Default A ?? for anyone, and hand quilters-Don-isewman

I have a ?? for anyone. I've talked with a lady, on hand quilting a quilt for her. It was made by her great grandmother in the year 1930's. The size of the quilt is 85 x 100". We have talked on the phone, yahoo message, and so on. If I decide to hand quilt, it isnt, going to be any fancy hand quilting. What do you think I should charge. Its a together--top-batting-backing. Just have to hand quilt it. Its all hand applique butterflies.

I wouldn't have a clue about charging -- that would be a lifetime project for me so no one could afford me.

It depends how you intend to quilt it and how detailed you are going to be.

Most hand quilters charge by the spool. It is usually so much an inch or so much a spool. Not sure on the charge.

I handquilt Hawaiian Quilts . Ofcourse its outrageous to charge by the yard ,spool or whatever. For a friend , I charged 6.50 and hour (did it by watching TV) I added the time spend. It came out to 375 hours, it was a king size quilt. When I figure out how to post the pics I will show them For more info ,write [email protected], Aloha!

Depends on the area you live in and how much quilting; but in my area its usually between 2 1/2cents to 3 cents per square inch. 85x100= 8500 sq. inches x .025= $212.50 or 8500 x .03= $255.00

Outrageous or not, I charge by the yard of quilting. Figure out how many yards per block, multiply by number of blocks, you get the picture. I know how many yards per hour I can do. Very nice quilt, BTW.

Around here the couple people I know who hand quilt charge by the square inch... 2 1/2¢ to 3 1/2¢ per square inch depending on the complexity and density of the quilting.
