I need advise on how you would longarm a Bargello quilt? I am just drawing a blank. I have thought about hand-quiltining it, but that would take forever. Any suggestions would be great.. Thanks...

Perhaps stitch in the ditch following the wave or flow of the pattern or stitch across the diagonal pieces with the flow. I hope that makes sense. If all else fails, just a meander will work too.

I get some of my quilting ideas for certain types of quilts by looking at pictures that others have done on webshots, photobucket, flickr, etc.

Do a google search for Bargello quilts and check the images. You will get tons of ideas.

mine (Ashleys' ocean) with the appliqued sea life i quilted in waves to follow the wave of the ocean. many bargellos look wonderful with a flowing all over meandering that helps the movement flow across the quilt. try looking at pictures on line or in books of many different bargellos. i've never seen one that was stitch-in-the-ditch...that seems like it would take away from the flow of the quilt...kind of (box it) for lack of better descriptive word...stop the flow...i would like to find a picture of one done that way just to see how that works out...so if you do decide to sid...take lots of pictures :)

I did mine with a meandering design. It worked well for that one anyway. IMHO
