    I use this pattern a lot, I really like the center point on the leaf but I paper piece the pointed section instead of using the plastic template. Just do one section at a time and I usually jot down which fabric is the leaf and which is the background

    I realize that this is not what you had in mind, but..........When I needed a Fall table runner I made a patchwork runner and tacked silk leaves on it. I took the leaves off a branch, took off all of the plastic that ran along the center of the leaf, and sewed a line down the center to attach it. I overlapped some and left some "falling". Got a lot of compliments

    If you can draw a 10" square and mark lines both ways of 2", then colour the squares you could cut out the pieces in sections and sew as foundation pieces. Here's a sketch i did in EQ. I can send you a printout if you'd like to pm me your email address.

    When I have had questions about a pattern I purchase, I contacted the designer with specific questions. Marsha Anderson of High Street Designs - Selvage tote- actually emailed me with a detailed answer and also offered additional help if needed. When I wrote Indygo Junction (by Amy Barrickman) about one of her patterns, her office assistant emailed me the next morning with an explanation, an offer to call her for any additional help and when she would be in the office.

    What a great suggestion! Could also easily be done as raw edge applique using Heat&Bond Lite and your drawing. If you used batiks you could do it as one complete piece and just fuse it and stitch around the outside edge. You could fussy cut it from a section of a batik fat quarter to get several shaded colors and it would sure look like a fall leaf as its turning colors.
