I am looking for a barn quilting pattern. To quilt, not paint. They are beautiful on a barn and will do that when it is warmer. But here in Montana is pretty cold this time of year. I do have the Eleanor Burns book but I saw a quilt in Cody WY that was of all barns. Any help will be great. Happy Valentines Day to everyone.

    Try this site [url]http://www.connectingthreads.com/books/Quilt_Blocks_on_American_Barns__D45199.html[url]

I've also seen a class where they made a quilt with barns. I'll try to locate that one too. I'm working on a novel about a quilt barn painter so your question helped me with research.

Not quite sure if you are looking for blocks that appear on barns or patterns for barns to put on a quilt. I live in Eastern Tennessee where you see alot of barns with quilt blocks in this area as part of the Appalachian Quilt Trail. The website below is a wonderful reference for block patterns on barns as well as giving you a feel for our lovely area. Please check it out: http://www.vacationaqt.com/trail/by-pattern/

That is my area of the country. I have pics of many of the barns from the quilt barn trail on my website. I think you're looking for quilt patterns, right?

I'll write my quilter friend who taught the class for a quilt depicting barns. She would know which book it's in.

I asked my friend about the barn pattern quilt class. They are doing the one from the Ellenor Burns book. It looked very different because they chose dark brown and brick red tones for the barns. I think it's the same pattern you mentioned before. Thought there might be another option for you. Sorry.

I want to make the quilt of barns. The paintings are beautiful on barns, but I want to start with the quilt. I have the Eleanor book, but want one with more barns.

Diane Entrikin and I (Ann Zemke) are just about to publish "Every Barn Tells a Story" -- a compilation of quilt barn owner biographies, narratives and anecdotes, partnered with quilt blocks, sampler quilts and sewing projects. Our book should be available for purchase in the next few weeks. Other projects in the book include: apron patterns, embroidered dishtowels, small quilts, table toppers, cross stitch barn, recipes, and even instructions on how to paint your own quilt block. We'll also publish articles about the history of barns in America and, of course, the history of quilt barns - - now the Quilt Trail.

Diane and I interviewed quilt barn owners to capture their stories, and we included our personal stories, too. (We both painted quilt blocks - - mine hangs on a shed and Diane's hangs on a fence.) Then we wrote the pattern to make the quilt blocks and included them all in 2 sampler quilts.

You may learn more about "Every Barn Tells a Story" and watch our progress at www.crocuslane.blogspot.com. If you'd like more information, you may contact me through my website at www.crocuslanequilts.com.

I'm delighted that you have an interest in the quilt barns. Last week, I learned from Donna Sue Groves (started the Quilt Trail) that there are 3,200 quilt barns in 30 states. Wow!
