    Default Beginner Question

I see soooo many blogs for quilters. Are there any blogs for beginner quilters? I don't want to make purses and things, just quilts and I would love to be able to go to a blog that has all beginners with a host that is a teacher for us newbies.

    Any ideas?

Personally, I don't visit many blogs. Generally they have way too much uninteresting [to me, anyway] stuff that I don't want to wade through to get to the good stuff.

I do however search You Tube for videos I might want to watch. I also check out the QB tutorials and postings for whatever topic I am interested in. I have found many useful sites and hints right here on the QB.

You could search in Google or Bing or whatever you use for a search engine and put in Beginner Quilting Blogs and see what you get. Although many of them are wonderful sources of info just remember that anybody can start a blog!

I agree that you will get much excellent information here - there is a give-and-take that is not available on blogs. There are many ways to do the same thing and I think this board covers everything!

I learned most of my beginning info through books. Many are available from your library. Also getting a simple, cheap kit pattern should teach you some basics while you're actually making something!

And then, of course, we're all here to help with your many questions!

You might also want to consider taking a beginner's quilting class somewhere to give you that confidence boost. I am self-taught and have made 3 quilts, working on my 4th. They aren't perfect, but they're pretty darn good! However, I still would like to take a class as I feel it would fill in some gaps that I have missed. That would have to be after Christmas ... too busy now. But I'm looking forward to it. That's just my 2 cents worth. (But this board is wonderful and soooooooo very helpful!)

For me, this site contains it all. Some posts are for quilters other posts are for crafters. You can pick and choose. (And there is always plenty to choose) Love the helpful links being posted for beginners and old timers, too. Thanks to everyone!
