If you are a member of Quilters Club of America you get free access to qnntv.com. They have one show that is dedicated to beginning quilters. Actually, I think you can join qnntv without joining QCA but you get some other benefits with QCA.

Hi, You sure learn a lot here you just need to say what your problem is and you'll have tons of answers. I've found just reading here helps you with a lot of things you want to know. Everyone is so nice and helpful it should help you. Hope you try asking and receive lots of help. Sue

A class at a Local Quilt Shop (LQS) is a very good starting point. If you don't have access to an LQS with a good teacher then Alex Anderson has a very good little book Start Quilting Six Projects for First-time Quilters. It has all the basics, easy to follow along step by step. Only 40 pages, so it is not overwhelming.
I started with that one book, and expanded the library as time went on but I still like going back to this one.

When I started quilting QNN was free then Fons and Porter bought it and now it costs. But for a beginner it is worth the money to see all the videos and there are a lot.
Eleanor Burns is by far the best teacher and her videos are free on her website under the television/video button.

Her books are very easy to follow and if you watch the videos that go with the book you cant go wrong.

Select a pattern that says easy or beginner, then look for a tutorial on this board, Missouri Quilt Company and/or You Tube. From there, jump in and get started. Ask questions on the board with pics so you can get some great help. Good luck.

qnntv.com has a show for beginners called Quilty with Marianne Fons' daughter Mary. I joined qnntv for $24, I think, a year. It has tons of shows/videos other than Quilty as well. For me, a beginner, it's worth the money. Penny Halgren has a site, how-to-quilt.com that's free. My go-to book is Better Homes and Gardens Complete Guide to Quilting.

I do not follow blogs.If you go to youtube and do a search for any type of quilting there are many videos to watch.I have learned a lot watching them.the board is great too-many tutes.I am a visual learner and can read all day and not quite grasp something-but can watch someone do it one time in a video and have my ah ha moment.
