I have a coupon good for this week at my bernina dealer. I am thinking about buying the patchfoot foot with guide #57. Is that a good move or does the regular patchwork #37 foot do just as good a job. Are there any other speciality feet you recommend? Thank you so much for your input.

    Hi Judy,

For me, the #37 regular patchwork foot works very well. I actually have the #57 but hardly use it. The other foot I use a lot is the #20 - it is an open foot that I use for machine applique - you can easily see where you are going! I also use the #10 for stitching in the ditch.

    Have fun shopping!

Thanks for the info. Do you prefer the #10 foot over the walking foot for stitch in the ditch. Is it easier to stay on the line.

Yes, for me the #10 foot gives me more control when stitching in the ditch - it has a metal piece that rides nicely in the ditch. Another item I purchased soon after I got my 440 was a straight stitch throat plate.

I too have the #57 foot and use it exclusively for piecing. I also use the #20 foot a lot.
