I have seen the blanket stitch used with foot number 20 and recently I did a very small straight stitch that I liked even better, I used a zigsag that made my beaks look very bulky on a small stitch. so my sugestion is for you to try and see what stitch you like best
    good luck

I have a Bernina and for a satin stitch I use foot #3, second choice #20. I feed my bobbin thread through the hole in the bobbin case. This makes the top stitch stand up nicely. I use a stablizer underneath (paper works too) and you will need to set your zigzag width and stitch length to match the size of your applique. Do a test sample to make sure everything works the way you want as zigzag is not easy to rip out. Good luck and hope you can understand my explanation.
