Default Help with Free Motion Quilting

I may have made a huge mistake. After taking my machine for an overhaul (Expression 4.0) I was told I should have not used spray basting. even with a clean needle and bobbin case it doesn't want to work right. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Do I need to pin all my layers and wash the quilt. Sure takes away the fun! Thanks

Welcome to the QB!
I've not heard anything about spray basting causing trouble. Is your machine stitching everything else well, and can you FMQ just fine on a non-spray-basted test piece?

I had never heard of the spray basting causing troubles, either...kind of wondering what everyone else is going to say. I have used the spray basting a couple times and had no trouble with my machine.

It works on straight stitching on plain fabric. I had it cleaned and gone through and that was the dealers conclusion. However the first time I tried it after cleaning it still broke threads, etc.

Did it work right before? Has it ever?

I have a 4.0 and never could get it to FMQ. Did some research and it appears that the 4.0 does not FMQ well

I also have never heard of spray basting causing machine problems

Can't see how spray basting would hurt the machine unless you sprayed toward or at the machine. There must be some other cause.

Go to http://www.delawaresewing.com/dsc/tr...achprobweb.htm--it has a list of problems and solutions. You might find help there.

I have the QE 4.0 and it does fmq very well. When you choose the sensormatic function do you change the pivot height to -2 or -3 and then take the auto lift off? If you don't do those things it makes a difference.

I use spray basting all the time and never had a problem. I think there is something causing the problem
