Am seriously considering purchasing this machine but would appreciate your input first. I have a dealer I trust. Thanks for sharing your pro and con experiences, opinions etc.

I have the older vertical bobbin 2170. I've tried the newer Pfaffs and some of them do work pretty much the same.

The IDT is good, hopefully Pfaff improved buttonholes, it's a lot roomier than my 2170.

That said, the best thing for you to do is take your easiest and most difficult sewing samples to the dealer, sit there and play with the machine. Get most of your questions answered if you have difficulty with your samples.

I am not a fan of drop-in bobbins. It's far easier to cut threads from the underside of a mess up to get the fabric out from under the foot or an embroidery jam. However, you are the one that wants the machine, so you will have to decide.

There are some things you just have to try. I found out about size on serger feet the hard way. The sergers with the smallest feet were the Babylock Imagine and the Elna 704. The other sergers I tried were good machines - I just couldn't grok them. This is where you WILL have to decide.

Pfaff, Viking and Bernina have a foot for just about everything. So you might want to check out those, too.

I have a Pfaff 7550 and a 2144 and love them both. I have regular maintainence done and that is all. They run like charms. You won't go wrong with a Pfaff.

I just got this machine a couple of months ago and really love it. Love the IDT. The only thing it doesn't have is a thread cutter, but I never use that unless I'm paperpiecing and then I use my brother for that. Enjoy your new machine.

I really like my Pfaff machines (notice I said plural - 2 sewing and 1 serger) but what makes me the happiest is that I have the most wonderful dealer. Since I am not in need of a machine, I've only glanced at the one you're considering. It does have a large sewing space (harp?)

I have had a Pfaff 7570 for years and so very pleased. The dealer calls it a workhorse.

Thanks to all who have given me some input. This machine offers most of what I want but I now have some issues to consider ... such as do I really want/need a machine with thread cutter? .... will I have to purchase many accessories to make my machine "complete" .... such as the single hole plate??? ... the open foot free-motion foot?? I currently have a Singer purchased back in the '70s and it came with many accessories. I need to find out more about what is included with the purchase of the 1.5. Back to the shop I will go.
