Concerned about fusible applique

It's so interesting hearing about everyone's applique experiences!
I checked the applique kit, and they used Heat 'n Bond Lite. My applique needle went in quite easily, but of course, that was before the piece was ironed. Will it be harder to puncture once ironed? It would be nice if I could end up using these fusible pieces, but I've checked on-line, and these fabrics are available in many places, so I may just order some of the fabrics used in the appliques to cover my bases.
