I ordered and received a 1/4" foot for my viking. When it arrived it was not a snap on that all my other feet are, but when I took the snapon ankle off and went to screw in the new one, the screw was not long enough( the snap on ankle has a recessed area for the screw, new foot does not) I tried the viking stores in town, they don't seem to know what I am talking about. Any ideas?

Maybe try a hardware store for a longer screw? Or return the foot? :D:D:D

A mechanic who works on Vikings should be able to find a screw that works for you. Find out if the Viking stores have a mechanic who comes in (or that you can visit yourself). It would probably be best to bring in both the machine and the foot.

Also, try Googling online for Viking parts. You may be able to find the screw yourself that way (although shipping will probably far exceed the cost of the screw).

Here's a link to an online store's Viking section:
    http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/vik...odel-list.aspx

Check your model number to see if you can find the screw you need.

Are you sure it's the right foot? I have a Viking 830 and the 1/4" foot snaps on. The only feet that screw on are darning foot and free motion springy foot. (Maybe yours is a different model than mine.)

YIPPPEEE, I found the answer to my screw problem. Yikes, am I at the right website??? Ok Viking dealers didn't know what I was talking about, this 1/4" foot did not snap on but had it's own ankle, but a trip to specialty hardware store found the correct screw it is DIN 7985 M3x10 panhead phillips, it is a little long but works great, instead of the $6.00 the online store I bought the foot from, the cost was $.02, ( I figured I could afford a spare) I am back in business. THANKS ALL. Rita

Interesting .. I just purchased a 1/4 inch foot for my sister , her Viking machine. It is a universal in that it fits all Viking machines regardless of the model number. There is no place to screw it in it snaps ( in the groove on the ankle) like most of the other feet. Did you by any chance get the 1/4 inch walking foot?

I know this model has snap on feet, but I ordered this one from and on line store and it has it's own shank, it was about half the price of the snap on foot, now I am not sure it was worth it, but all is well now. Thanks everyone for your help. Rita
