These stories make me appreciate how our local fair does the entries. They give bar code labels to you when you register at the front door. When you actually enter your items the only identifier on them is the bar code on the back. No one knows who entered what until after the judging is complete and the ribbons are hanging. It makes it nice. No names are ever shown, even after the judging. I've actually won in the baking competition a time or two!

I did win a firswt place in a crib quilt challenge in our fair. There were three ribbons to be awarded, and only three quilts were entered. It was nice to win and have the ribbon, but it wasn't like I had great competition.
