Do you label your quilts?

I keep thinking I should label my quilts, but I never have. No, I take that back - I did label one I made as a wedding present almost 2 years ago, and I tried an iron-on image for the label and I've been told it's already faded to pretty much nothing. Figures!
Both of my grandmothers were avid quilters. One never labeled a quilt. The other would label some of them; she would embroider her name and the year on a corner, on the back. But not every quilt got a label, it was somewhat random. I guess that's the example I'm following, LOL.

If I paint or draw a picture I put my name and date on it... so I feel like I should do the same for a quilt that I make. I have done this in different ways... some an actual lable. Some just my initials and date....and there are a few that I have missed all together

Since I have the embroidery module for my Bernina, I started making embroidered labels for my quilts. Baby quilts I like to put the baby's name and birthdate, "made by great-aunt Kim R***", washing instructions, and a small (1" ) picture to coordinate with the quilt theme (such as a small frog, butterfly, animal).

My grandmother made many, many quilts over the years and did not label the ones made in the 1930-1950's quilts. She did start labeling....sort of....the quilts she made 1960's-1980's. I have about 20 of her quilts and have always been a bit puzzled and amused....she would embroider her name and date of birth at the top of the quilt. So it would look like this:
1910 Violet Morehead 19 and then space for last two digits of her death.
I was in my 30's when she passed and by that time an avid quilter myself. I don't know why I didn't ask for a deeper explanation as to why she did that. I do know one time I teased her about having to go back to all of her quilts and fill in the death date. She was a beautiful quilter...everything hand pieced, hand quilted. Here is an example: this one was made I believe in the 70's because the pink is leftover from the centennial dress she made...1976.

I try to make sure I label each quilt. I try to put the name for quilt and date, plus year, pieced and quilted by. I put who the quilt is for if I know that. I did put to my Great grand daughter name and from G Grandma name and some times I also put the state and sometimes the zip code.
