I get together with 6 friends once a month. We all meet at one home because she has the most room and sewing space. I "need" to be in my own sewing space when I am sewing, cutting, or working on a project so I usually just bring hand sewing{embroidery, binding etc.} along. We do help each other on some projects and give each other opinions and creative ideas but basically we all work on our own projects. We bring a dish or munchies to pass for lunch and then visit the LQS and back to sewing til around 5 when we all pack up and leave. It makes for a very enjoyable time with good friends and is something I look forward to every month.

Yes, can really recommend it, I meet with friends every Wednesday afternoon and really enjoy it, we quilt together, laugh together, cry together and solve problems or at least share them. I also meet with another small group on Monday evenings, we quilt and eat homemade cake!!!!

I love piecing with friends at guild classes and retreats but have learned that I need to take projects that don't require a lot of concentration cause I'm a talker!

Default Do you sew with friends?

Yes, sew with friends often. Friday evenings with a group of 10 griends...we go house to house and some sew by hand, some knit, always a dessert. Once a month we have a weekend retreat and rent out a room at community center, and we bring machines. Always a productive weekend! We mostly work on own rojects, but once in awhile will make something to donate.

Two of my friends and I started out every other week then changed to weekly because we enjoyed our times together so much. We meet Tuesdays from 6-8ish at a home that is centrally located. I live out of the way so I travel to their homes. We bring hand work, exchange ideas, solve sewing problems ...... Share life together. We invite others to join us. One lady doesn't sew but does water color painting. I love my Tuesday evenings and wouldn't give it up!

I have a sewing friend who lives just over an hour away and a couple times a year, she comes to visit for a couple days and we sew. It's lots of fun and I end up getting a lot done - it's sort of like a retreat in that I'm forced to focus on sewing. I love it and I enjoy having the company and visiting with my friend. She usually brings her machine and her cutting stuff, but uses my iron and pressing board. It helps that I have plenty of room, too.

My sewing buddy comes over every Thursday and we have a great time. I wish I had more friends to come over but I live in the sticks..sort of. We even spend some days looking at all my pattern books. I have a load of old vintage books. Some of those patterns are grand. Beyond my skill level. I would have a house full of sewing friends if I was in a better location.

I mostly don't like to sew with others. It breaks my concentration and it seems like there is always someone who wants free classes (although I have gotten good at saying "no" nicely). I'm afraid I'm a solitary sew-er. At least as far as human company is involved. I always have 3 dogs and I have my tv with an 80% full dvr so I always have company of a sort.

I don't sew with any friends. I get more done if I am on my own. I don't even like it when we take our machines to the guild for a sew in. It seems a lot of trouble to take your machine and all the other things for just a few hours. THAT MAY BE JUST ME. I wish I did have a good friend that sews so we could shop together and talk about what we are working on. Also to ask advise about different things.
