I like the idea of sewing first thing in the morning, I get caught up with things I should do around the house. I feel I should have all the house clean before I can do any sewing/quilting. Must break myself of that "bad" habit!

I sew almost every day for 2-3 hours.

I'm retired now but when I worked full time I probably sewed for an hour or so most days every week. I retired two years ago and moved shortly after. Since then, I've been plagued by a lot of health issues but am slowly beginning to get back into a routine. The routine is that I sew a good part of the day every day. I usually check email and have coffee in the morning and then head to the sewing room. I take breaks to walk the dog and read blogs.

I'm very fortunate that I live somewhere that includes weekly housekeeping and a daily meal so I don't have much to do on that scene. I don't do much sewing in the evening just because the light is better during the day. I'm loving it!!

It makes my back tired quickly as I brace myself to avoid sliding forward out of the seat. Not sure how I'll handle this as another chair purchase isn't in the budget. Thinking on it.

I have enjoyed reading all of your responses. But I had to reply to try and help jan. Can you make a pillow to fit your seat that is thicker at the front to adjust the seat properly? Maybe with ties to keep it in place.

Hubby bought a new office chair for the computer and I have to put a pillow on it to use it. It actually has thrown my back out of whack!

I usually do all of my house and garden chores first thing in the morning. Then I will go up and sew. If I am under the gun to finish some charity auction items I might change it up a little and let hubby do the gardening on his days off.

Yes, I sew every day. Someone has to use up all that fabric.

If i am working on a quilt, I will quilt every day and sometimes for several hours. I do hand work evenings in front of the tv. I usually only have one going at a time. Then I may rest for a couple weeks and not sew at all until an idea strikes me again and I just have to start that new quilt that I have been wanting to make. No set schedule for me.

I still work full-time, but the kids are all grown and out of the house. I go thru spells of see, sew, sew for weeks on end. Then I hit a slump (like now) where I just cannot get 'into' it. I'm beginning to think it is the project someone asked for that makes me drag my feet! I just spent 6+ Months just planning a quilt for my daughter in law for her college graduation in December. She provided all the different college themed fabrics but I am just now getting into the cutting and sewing. I feel the pressure as December will be here soon and I really want to do Christmas stuff!!!!!

I also find that if I am not really into making and/or liking the project I am working on, it will take me forever to finish. I drag my feet and finishing it feels more like a chore than fun project. Finally, I will get to the point that I have to finish it and then work non-stop to get it done. When I finally finish it, I feel exhausted and then need time to get over the exhaustion (more mental than physical). When I finally get into 'wanting' to quilt again, I find the most fun, quick project to do so that I can get my interest back into quilting again.

I'm still working so I don't get as much done as I wish I could. But when I am not actually quilting in some capacity (as I have more than one quilt going at a time) I am contemplating my next steps, or the fabric I need, or arranging to get to JoAnn's, the Bernina shop or wherever in amongst my errands so I consider that part of the deal. I also watch Love of Quilting and Sewing with Nancy plus You tube videos of quilting (and Pinterest for quilting ideas) to keep my skills sharp for the quilts I am planning. Oh and getting on here and seeing what you girls have to say. Quilting is like an obsession and it's hard for me not to incorporate it into every day in some way. I think it all counts, and I love every minute of it!

The light in my sewing room when everyone else in my area is asleep is me. Night owl.

At the moment I am trying to learn and come to grips with a new machine: complex, difficult manual, I suspect a tendency to be persnickety. Unfortunately my wonderful dealer does not have 24/7 coverage. And then when the sun is up and I have begun my sunny "day," I barrage them with questions.

My current functional production is low but I have lots of test bits and squares. I am thinking of creating a book of them along with comments so figuring out what went wrong/what worked well. Plastic sleeves rule! In the meantime the muttering you hear sometime in the depths of the night is probably me.
