I am trying to visualize the way to go about this without having it end up too confusing! Suggestions please! Luann
You might look at some multiple size knitting or crochet patterns for clues on this. They usually give directions for one size with the changes for other sizes in parenthesis following that particular instruction.

I understand the knitting patterns well. I am not sure that it would work in quilt pattern writing esp. if it is like a barn raising style or applique and you need more instructions for the add on or other sizes. I am thinking hard on this as I have to increase my business with more interesting patterns. Thanks for the input. It really does help! Luann

YES!! I may not want to make a wall hanging or lap quilt and multiple sizes in a pattern are great. Yes, I can make it bigger by adding borders or rows but sometimes that isn't the look you want.

I to agree with multiple quilt sizes when your buying their patterns or books. Many people have different likes for sizes.

I agree, they should put the different sizes on the instruction sheets.

More information is always good! Many have mentioned the price of patterns--what about the price of fabric??? A miscalculation could be pretty expensive! I love working with jelly rolls--it would be wonderful to see directions for making these quilts in different sizes. Seems like even those patterns that do have extra sizes only go up to queen sized, never king. If I wanted to do the math myself I'd just creat the pattern in EQ and get some pretty good estimates on fabric--if I'm paying for a pattern, it should include multiple sizes!

I prefer to buy patterns that have the various sizes. I may not want to make the quilt the size the designer has chosen and I don't like having to do the math to figure out the yardage. I also like being told how many extra blocks I need to make -- how many extra hst's I need to make, etc. We pay good money for the books -- they really need to include a variety of sizes.
