I have done them at my LQS and made a few quilts that I enjoyed giving away. I recently stopped joining because it's been the same old thing over and over as far as techniques. I think many of us have been doing this for two years now and should have mastered those half square triangles, flying geese etc and are ready to move on to something a little more complicated

I did two. They were at a LQS and I enjoyed them because we had a "show and tell" and were kept updated on classes when we would show up with our completed blocks. I didn't do anything with the first set of blocks -- in fact I found an unfinished one recently. I completed the other blocks and made a quilt of it that is hanging in my dining room now. I tend to get creative and finished it "my own way", but I'm happy I took the time to do it. The blocks were the birdhouses, the rest was up to me to complete.

I wish I could find someone willing to sell The Stitchers Garden Pattern. I can't get to our LQS for the BOM and it isn't on line anywhere. There should be a site for selling these BOM's.

No clubs for me Iam too independent, and I dont want some one managing my time and money when it comes to quilting. I would rather figure things out that please me.

I love BOM....all the fabric selected, pattern, etc. Before I sign up I check out the pattern.............if it's too difficult, well there's one I won't do. I've got two in my closet and they will sit there and wait until I'm ready!!!!

Take a look at my flickr page for pics. Check them out. I HIGHLY recommend Konda's BOM's...lots of FUN! http://www.flickr.com/photos/48106164@N07/

And check out the BOM on here that Salabug is hosting. And the mystery that is called All Aboard the Mystery Quilt Train. They're alot of fun too.

Doing online freebies & using your own stash...very little cost.

Check it all out & have fun...

I have done only one thru a LQS-and only did half of it....just never got to going back for the rest of it, so now the blocks are done and sitting in a plastic bag-another UFO.........but, I do love to go to JoAnn's and look for their precut blocks, but only when they are on "clearance"...so far I have gathered the parts of three different patterns, including the finishing kit at very reasonable prices. One of the sets did not have all the blocks, so I purchased a few duplicates......that will work just as well. The blocks that are offered are precut, but I have never had a problem with any of them, and some of these samplers have a mix of piecing and applique and because they didn't cost me a fortune, I do not agonize over them....just do them, have fun and on to something else........not a Michaelangelo......

I ordered one on line last year that was all applique. I decided to wait and do that after I had them all. I might start them soon.

I am doing one at the LQS. So far I am keeping up and doing the "projects." This month may be my downfall. I went Monday night and I hate the blocks and the projects for this month. Next Saturday I am going to go in to see the finished quilt again for inspiration.

I have a friend that says she signed up for a BLOCK a month and not all the projects. I do understand they are trying to generate sales. I signed up because I loved this quilt and was trying to step outside my box. I am still trying but I don't like it out there!

I have to like the quilt to sign up. I don't buy kits either. A BOM is a kit. I really don't like someone else making choices for me.

    Control freak here.
