Default Electronic Tablets to Aid Your Quilting?

Did you receive or purchase (for yourself... as we sometimes do while shopping for others) a tablet or eReader for Christmas?

What are your favorite quilting related apps?

Can't wait to hear what your answers.

No, but i am totally interested in one. But I am lost in the process. One is good at one thing, one is good at something else. Don't know what to buy. Nook or kindle fire? I want one that is user friendly, wanna read, want apps, want gameing, want light weight. Now what do I buy? Any suggestions?

DH and I are electronic gadget poor! LOL We have too many. Our adult kids think we need to stay up with the times so for gifts we get the new gadgets. Ipad, Itouch, Iphone, IPods, Kindles, Roku, laptops, netbook, and of course my GPS is programmed to go to all the fabric stores! I've noticed a lot of the new quilt books are available for Kindle or Nook now. My Kindle Fire is great for quilting books, it's all in color. There a few apps I use on my Iphone. The Block Tool and Quilting Calculator are the two I use the most. I have all the quilting software programs on my laptop. I enjoy portable technology.

Kindle Fire is nice and Nook tablet is nice too. For quilting books you need one that will show the book pictures in color. For just reading books the cheaper Kindle or Nook is the best. The IPad will do everything a tablet and a laptop will do.

Bought my son-in-law a Nook Tablet which is everything you want to do with a tablet. Read, surf the net, play games, etc. Looks like good value for the price. The two tipping factors vs the Fire:
    1. The Nook allows additional storage via an external SD card.
    2. There have been some issues with the Fire operating system (Amazon is addressing).

Me - I am holding out for an iPad. It has a bigger screen, kazillion more apps, the cool factor.

I am holding out for an IPad, as well. I have a Nook...black and white. I only use it for reading novels. DS and DIL have a new Ipad...gift for DIL from her work (I would LOVE to work where she does...they give awesome gifts each year). I am thinking I may give my laptop to DH and get myself an Ipad. I look forward to hearing how everyone else is using theirs!

I've had my Nook Color for a yr now and I love it. It does it all; read, email, games, organizer, pdf files, etc. There are so many free to low cost apps avail that I could never use them all. I love the vivid color it has and I can read in the daytime or in the dark. I get great support by just walking into the store. In the next week or so they are upgrading it so that it'll do the movies with Netflix like the tablet does. I'm going to check out the tablet to see if I should upgrade or not. I already have a 3G black and white one at home that no one uses so I don't want to have two of them. My grown daughter said she'd take the color one for games. That would be such a waste. The Ipads are so expensive and they have issues as well.

I bought the Kindle Fire as my Christmas present to myself
    WiFi router set-up is on
Have done nothing yet except stare at it.
Read on an earlier posting that Marie Webster's book is Kindle free. Plan to download it by the weekend - it'll be my first Kindle attempt.

    gollytwo:
You will love your Kindle. I had the older one and loved it. Now I love the Kindle Fire even more. Just go for it. I love reading on the Kindle. Be sure and go to Pixelsofink.com and sign up for the daily email. They offer free and almost free books everyday. Some apps and games too.
    I love my Kindle Fire!

I just bought the Kindle Fire HD and can see the quilt board and craftsy pages but neither sites allow me to sign in. They don't recognize my email address or my password. How do I get around this? Do I need a new password just for the kindle?
