I have seen many posts here from people who have just acquired a new Featherweight but I have never really taken much interest in these machines so I know nothing of why they are so prized. Recently, a very dear friend who is terminally ill, passed hers along to me. I will value it simply because it was hers but would like to know more about them. Can anyone suggest a source? The machine has its original instruction book and dates from 1947. It runs very well, has all feet and attachments listed in the book. I will have it cleaned and oiled but it required very little in the way of clean up. Thanks for any help you can give me.

the big draw of them is their petite size and weight=
they are little work horses- as long as you treat them well take care of them they will stitch happily along forever-nice even stitches- and only weighing in at 12 pounds with their wonderful little carrying case--wonderful to take to classes- retreats- vacation= any time you want to take a machine=and don't want to Haul the big heavy computerized machine. :)

After readng many posts here about the FW and how everyone who ownes one loves theirs so, I purchased one. I now know why they are so crazy about them. They make the nicest stitches and it's so easy to make adjutments to the stitch length. I an glad I bought one. Hope you enjoy yours much as I do mine.

You are in for a real treat!!!! Their stitches are beautiful. You can sew lingerie materials and then sew the binding on a large quilt with very little adjustments. It just seems to know what fabrics you are sewing. Love mine and I hope you do yours. It is so thoughtful of your friend to give you this special gift. She must really love you and I am sure you will always treasure this special gift.
