What color is a shadow?
#1
I am doing a applique' of a little girl which originally was an iron-on embroidery transfer, so there is no colors shown. By her feet, on both sides, there is a shadow. My question is....what color do I make this shadow? My first choice is a very light grey....whatcha think? Comments more than welcome.......

Honesty, from an artistic standpoint, shadows are blue. Our eyes turn them into grey as blue plus most colors turn into a grey color. I would look for a blue grey color, either in a warm or cool tone that matches your background.

If it's on a wall hanging or something that isn't going to be washed a lot, I'd try either a colored pencil or a crayon, using it very lightly. You can always make it darker. Then, if it still needs "something" you could outline it in grey. Just a possibility...

I would have to see the pattern to determine what the color of the shadow is...
These could be black, dark grey, or a light grey or even on orange grey depending on light....and what you are trying to convey.
