Has anyone been doing FMQ on the babylock crescendo?
I've tried it twice in the store. The tension doesn't work right with FMQ. More time maybe all I need to sort it out. Wondering if anyone has had FMQ success.
Also, any thoughts on the stitch regulator?

I have done two very small (sunglasses case) projects with FMQ and didn't have any tension issues. I did find however that the foot was really close to the plate and it made it a little difficult to maneuver my fabric and my feed dogs were dropped, but it also could be I didn't have much fabric to hold on to. No stitch regulator for me, spent enough on the crescendo I just keep practicing.

I haven't had any trouble at all. I do find the hopping foot much better than the one with the little circle

​You can do FMQ on most machines that have a hopping or darning foot and the ability to lower or cover the feed dogs. There are people who FMQ with the feed dogs up but I have better luck with them down. The tension will need to be adjusted for each quilt sandwich and thread combo.

on fmq there should be no tension it all has to do with movement of the fabric if you go too fast your stitches will be tiny if you move fabric to slow your stitches will be too big with eyelash on the bottom. it just takes practice and if you can slow down the machine that helped me when I was just starting. I have never used a stich regulator.

I do not have the Crescendo, but I have the Espire. I find if I set the speed somewhere in the middle and really get a nice pace going, I don't have any issues with stitches. I do not have a stitch regulator, I typically use the open toed foot. I haven't had any tension issues, ever, but the machine regulates that automatically.

I have the brother dreamweaver and also had the babylock espire which work the same for FMQ and neither have tension issues.
