Hi,
Does anyone know about the break-up of the Fons and Porter TV show and organization? Last week, Maryan announced on the show that Liz Porter had retired!!!!!!!! This was a great team and they have a very big organization. I am very sorry to hear this on their PBS show . I do like the new team of Maryanne and her daughter. They really explain patterns ect very well.

I do wish Liz Porter the best in the future.

Gosh hard to believe. I guess I like to think the quilting folks on TV will never age and never retire! We don't get the show anymore and I miss it. No more Eleanor Burns either and do miss her.

That really is sad news. I guess we all deserve to retire at some point but from QUILTING, never. Their show is no longer on our PBS either. We now have the Pokey Bolton show which isn't as appealing to me as Fons and Porter. I loved the fact they could admit when they were messing up on the camera. It make me feel like they were one of "us". The show will be missed.

It was mentioned about a month ago here. I wish her well and can understand she wants family time, but we were her family also  LOL

I can only imagine all the time involved with everything they did , taping for TV, the quilt shows in person, time for the magazine and then try to squeeze in some "fun" quilting

I heard Maryann say she was going to take some time off to be with her family, but didn't hear about her retiring. I thought she might be ill??? There seems to be a story behind the story - I wish her well.
