I am the proud owner of the Janome 6600 and have been told that I have to use the Janome bobbins in it. I have been using ones that I bought at the Dollar Store with no problems....my question is will these cause a problem? Have you used other bobbins other than Janome?
Any help would be greatly appreciated please.

I bought some on Ebay. I just put Janome 6600 in the search. They are exactly the same and work great.

My Janome dealership told me that I could use the Kenmore bobbins in my machine and that's what I do. Works great.

Given what I paid for it, buying the Janome bobbins seemed like a minor cost so yes, I do only use the Janome bobbins in it. It's much touchier than my older Janome but I love it.

I was told to use only plastic bobbins and not the metal ones.

I know for a fact that if you put a Brother bobbin in your 6600 you will suffer greatly! I was at a class and my bobbin ran out. To save time, my friend loaned me a full bobbin. (She had a Brother machine.) Well, my machine started to have breaking thread, bird's nests, and finally just kept jamming up. I called my dealer and tried all kinds of things but neglected to mention the bobbin. As a result, I took my machine to the dealer the next day where they quickly discovered the problem. If you put a Janome bobbin next to a Brother bobbin, one bobbin is just a hair shorter. What a headache!

I keep them seperate and marked! Skowlkat is right, they are not the same size.

I have a Janome 6260. When I first got it I was using plastic bobbins with a very slight curve top and bottom. After I had it serviced, I have to use only flat Janome bobbins. It does a beautiful job, so it's worth the extra, although I now have about 50 bobbins I won't use.
