Fun survey question..... Curious mind wants to know
#1
I know we all love to make quilts here. The very first one I made was given to my niece when she was one year old. The second one I made I kept. This is the only one that I still have. It's the Maple leave block. After that, I lost count. I seriously don't how many I made and I didn't take picture of them until recently.
Now for the question. How many quilts have you made for yourself? How many quilt have you made total.

I have made over 300++. Have 5 kids and have made at least 5 each for them and then for the 14 grandkids. for the 7 brothers and sisters. aunts, grandmothers. I DO HAVE PICTURES OF ALL OF THEM
my kids say keep them coming, they love them.I have made them for sale, for quilt raffles for churches.all family babies. my wedding presents are quilts, Linus quilts, I could go on and on.
Quilting is my peace of mind. my back up stength, by pastime, my love, my comfort. my crafting outlet, my design outlet,my love of fabric and quilting books, magazines. If I could not quilt, I think I would lose it. My brother said my machine is a work horse and he knows noone who can spend so much time at the machine. lol, I CAN!!!!!!!! QUILTING IS MY WAY OF LIFE. :P :P and every bed in my house has quilts and wall hanging around the house.

I have a list at home. I think it is near 30, but that includes the UFOs lurking in the closets.
I have sold 11, and posted pics of almost everything here on the board.
The first quilt I made was peach and aqua and dark gray if you can imagine that. (actually the dark gray print is a calico with the aqua and peach in it.) It was in the Beginners Quilting class and I have learned a lot about color since then. I gave that small lap quilt to my Grandmother, who passed away 2 years ago, so it is mine now.
I have made quilts for my mother and her mother, but they won't use them. I made one for my dad, and it is permanently over the back of his loveseat. I wish he would make it a wall hanging, but he is a bachelor. My daughter uses her black and white quilt all the time. It looks better and better the more it is used.

I have just started number 65. Not all of them are done, but I do keep track of who has the ones that are complete.
I have kept 34 and have "let loose" the rest. I also have made 24 dolly quilts for the church bazaar. I take pictures of EVERY quilt I make, and have kept records of size, date completed and the names I gave them.

Sally,
I too started quilting in high school. That was also 40 years ago. I have no idea how many I have made. I probably have at least 30 in various shapes and sizes around here that are for me. I routinely give them as gifts and donate lots of Linus quilts, quilts for soldiers, as prizes for guild or other fund raisers etc. I am trying to make at least 5 Linus quilts a week lately in an effort to clean out some of my stash. The chairity items are usually entirely machine made. I have handquilted probably 50 bed size quilts for money. I make tote bags out of scraps and leftover batting that our local Senior center sells. Last year I made purses for all of the females in my family for Christmas. I use my embroidery machine to make pillows, shirts and pillowcases for gifts. etc. etc.
Sewing is what keeps me going.
