A few years ago, I cross-stitched all the signs of the zodiac. Then I had a brilliant idea that I was going to make them into a quilt, and at the time, I had no clue how to do anything quilt related, but my mom had just taken a class, so I "enlisted" her help. :) Needless to say, we had a hard time lining everything up, etc, so I brought it home to rip it apart to start over again. Yesterday I got the bright idea that I was going to find it and start riping, because I want to work on it.
I can't find it for the life of me. I've looked in my closet, which is where I kept all my crafting stuff at the time, tore the front bedroom apart, every cupboard, cabinet, nook and cranny in this house, and it's nowhere. I even stopped by the parentals to make sure I didn't leave it there. Mom swears I took it home in a black bag...
So..while that is a bit discouraging...I'm thinking I'm going to have to start all over again.... :( I did get two new fabric yesterday.... Focus on the positive instead of the negative, right? :)

Have you looked: under the bed, in the garage, on top of the refrigerator, under the sink, through any layers of fabric you may have stashed, in the linen closet? Good luck, been there more than once.

As soon as you get the new one done the old one will magically appear.

This may sound a bit odd but it works - I went to a workshop several years ago that addressed how our brain works and what we 'tell it'. For example, if you say to yourself, 'I lost my keys', chances are it will take you forever to find them because you've told your brain they're lost. Instead ask yourself 'where did I put my keys' or even, 'I'm going to find my keys. I've been using this ploy for years now and it does work when you put a positive spin on something. I've located all sorts of things I had misplaced - including fabrid, notions, etc. Good luck.....

Agreed or about a year later.
Now I will tell on myself, I had completed a top all paper pieced just a small size wall hanging. It was my registered entry to a guilt show and just for the fun of it.
Searched everywhere [but the obvious right place] just could not find it. It would have been more stupid to admit that it was "lost" than to spend the hours/time doing it over.
Re-did it and well, it was better the second time around. Was looking through the stash, lo and behold there was the first one in between the folds of the intended backing piece.
    A tale to tell.

I've put things away somewhere that they'd be safe from the cats (or if I don't want my DH to realize how bad I've been). Usually the only way I ever find them (if I'm lucky) is to try to figure out where I would put that thing if it was in my hand again. I'm a very imaginative person when it comes to hiding places which can be really frustrating.

I'll be cleaning somewhere and suddenly come across something that I've completely forgotten about. My DH just laughs and says it's like another Christmas for me.
