Default gifting a quilt with a sleeve?

If you`ve had it in a show do you remove the sleeve before gifting.
Not asking about wall hanging but quilts to be used. Just wondering?
Thanks Gale

Personally I would not gift a big quilt with a sleeve on it

If it is definitely not going on a wall, I would remove the sleeve. If the recipient knows about it, I would ask if they want the sleeve removed.

I would remove the sleeve unless I knew for sure that the quilt was going to be hung & not used as a quilt.

I take the sleeve off when I decide not to show the quilt again. I would definitely take it off before gifting.

I leave the sleeve on in case they decide they would rather hang the quilt instead of having on a bed etc.

I don't because I have it tucked up into the binding. It won't interfere with the quilt being a quilt anyways. They might want to hang it at some point.

I leave sleeves on retired show quilts and I also add them to non-show quilts before gifting. They don't interfere with the functional use of a quilt and they give the recipient the option of hanging the quilt in the off season or all the time if they so choose. Sleeves make quilts more versatile, not less.

I leave the sleeves on, in fact I've had a few people request I put one on for them. My daughter's wedding quilt has a sleeve, in the winter it is on the bed, in the summer it is on a rod hanging across the sliding glass door

I make my sleeves from the same fabric as the backing fabric and leave it on the quilt. It doesn't show with this method and isn't in the way; can be available if ever the quilt is hung someday.
