Here's my list just for starters:


Retreat Needs!

Bedding and pillow, and EAR PLUGS!!!
Show and Tell, Name Tag, handwork, book, Masking Tape
Toiletries, Tylenol, muscle relaxant,anti-histamine, vitamins, curling iron
Towels & face cloths, clock, beanbag pillow, hairspray. Bathing suit & rubber flip flops
PJ's or other comfy sewing attire, flip flops or slippers.
Couple tops & pants or capris, rain jacket ?? sweatshirt ??
Camera and batteries, and recharger and chair.
Commuter mug & wine glass (& WINE)
Paper scissors, snips & fabric scissors and seam ripper.
Iron (wooden pressing tool)and pressing mat, tea table
Post its
Notepad & pen/pencil (pigma pen for labels)
Fat quarters for any lottery, bingo (highlighter) and the door prize draw. Snacks, specialty teas or coffees, or apple cider.
Sewing supplies:
Project, blue disappearing pen, yellow or white chalk marker, extra fabric in case you want to make something else?
Supplies for activities you wish to participate in.
Fabric for projects you are working on. Batting
Sewing machine (including your foot pedal & power cord, manual, 1/4 inch foot, walking foot, free motion foot, screwdriver)
Extension cord and/or power bar.
Extra machine needles, loaded bobbins, hand needles
Rotary cutter, mat, rulers (new blade for rotary cutter)
Threads for piecing and quilting.
Ott-light, magnet, tape recorder
Stabilizer (newsprint or tissue), heat n’bond lite, freezer paper
Safety pins, straight pins, basting spray, thread catcher
Wrist brace
Design wall

And be sure to put your name on EVERYTHING! I like to label the plug end of my power cables, this way if you need to unplug, you know you've got the right one!

You forgot CHOCOLATE !!! Every one brings fabric but out in the boonies where do you get chocolate ???/ Hugs

also add sewing machine manual (one never knows)
I make sure and have name on EVERYTHING ~ cords, rulers, rotary cutter, patterns, books, etc. if you misplace it, other will know to whom it belongs.

At my retreat we have our night jammies and then our day jammies... hehehe The main thing is to comfortable!!!

For your quilting items, other than the rulers] it is best to have them together in some sort of carryall. I use a clear plastic makeup bag.

The more you can corral your things the less chance of loosing them or having them broken.

Be considerate of others and don't bring more than you need. That includes checking if you are allowed to bring your own iron. Many of the retreats I have been on have specifically said NO IRONS, even the small mini-irons, as they put a drain on the available electrical usage.

I usually don't take batting as I will quilt once I am home and not distracted. I tend to work only on quilt tops. Easier to take and actually finish or almost finish the work.

bobbins, I did that for a class once, luckily they had prewounds
foot control/power supply, seen too many do this in my classes.
the basics scissors, rotary cutter, rulers, travel mat/ironing surface, travel iron, thread, seam rippers, screwdriver for machine care, extra light if needed.
stuff for projects if not provided
