I found this thimble for using under your quilt it's really light weight. I also need to feel the needle under the quilt , but this works great when I'm needing to get it done and can not rest my hands. i found it , at Keepsake Quilts, but I have not seen them ever again but they do have a web sight. www.quilterslittlehelper.com. I also use a goat milk salve on my fingers that works really good, it is made by a lady who lives in the same town as I do. It is called Comfrey & Calendula Salve. I have to keep it in the frig, but it works great she has a web sight www.jennessfarm.com.

I do most of my quilting the stab stitch method as I have a free standing quilt frame. Hubby made one for me and I love it. Can get up and do something else and then come back and continue. Like the older ones that all those quilters used to sit around to quilt on large quilts together. Just a few pin pricks is all I get from time to time.
