The laptop (which is about to die :( ) has the pics of most of my fabrics that I use with EQ6. So I installed the EQ7 upgrade onto the desktop. I'm going to transfer the pics, delete and take more pics since there's more fabs, I haven't taken pics of the FQ's or scraps, just the yardages, but it got me thinking....

Does anyone else take pics of ALL the fabrics and import them into EQ? and/or Do you use the fabrics that's already on EQ as reference?

I just got EQ7, have never had EQ before, but love the idea of bringing in my own fabrics when I want to see how a quilt will look like. I haven't done it yet, but I plan on using my own fabrics in the program.

I usually use what is in the program, but if I am doing a quilt where color is critical, I either scan in my fabrics, or I find them on-line and copy the images into EQ7. I am looking forward to how easy it is SUPPOSED to be in EQ7 to use fabric scans. I have found that I really have to play around with sizing when I scan in fabric because I get the tiled affect.

Can you store your pictures on a site on the web so they will always be there???

I want to do this, but seem to have such great troubles doing it. I don't mind it being time consuming, but I just haven't mastered getting them into my program...I have EQ4,5,6 and now have EQ7 upgrade coming....sheeish better get on mastering the photo of fabrics soon lol. I've managed to manuver around the program to design quilts and stuff....oh well hope to master the fabric thing also....

Well, it's on my hard drive then imported to the EQ program, the pics will always be there.

I haven't scanned any fabrics, but looking at the EQ7 manual vs. the EQ6 manual, it looks the same. Then again, everything is flying over my head these days so I could be wrong :)

I mostly use the EQ fabrics, and photos of the fabrics I purchase from online quilt stores. I haven't had a scanner that works hooked up to my computer in a while, so I haven't scanned fabrics.

I also work with the solid colors in EQ when designing.

Did you also know that EQ has fabric libraries that they publish for free download every month? Plus some manufacturers (I think Moda is one) also have downloadable fabric libraries for EQ of their current lines.

One more thing...
if your laptop dies, you can take the hard drive out of it (if that's not the bit that's dying), and put it into an external hard drive case and hook it up to your new computer using a USB connector and it acts like a secondary hard drive.

I just received EQ7 today. I installed it this evening, scanned in the fabrics from my latest quilting project, and "designed" the quilt (even tho I have it 75% complete already). I have never used any EQ SW before and wanted to see how it worked with something that I knew the outcome. I found it very easy to design the block, scan the fabrics and color the block(s), and then make the quilt from the blocks. I think I'm hooked. Here's my evening's results:

That's exactly what I did, Boscobd. Although I just did blocks, not an entire quilt. Since I hadn't had the software before, I listened to a couple of videos on designing blocks and scanned in some fabric and went for it. It is fun. I can see where it might become addictive.
