I have, but I used liquid starch first - medium stiffness. My strips were straight and the piecing went really well.

I have used 1 1/2" strips but only for a log cabin table runner and in a medallion log cabin for the cabin; but I prefer at least 2 - 2 1/2" strips, just my personal preference, as I find keeping the 1/4" seam allowance difficult to maintain on the 1 1/2" strips. But that's just me as I can appreciate quilts made with 1 1/4" strips.

I have used them for log cabins (starting with Honeybuns - which were cut 1.5" and rolled like jelly rolls), but I am sure you could make a lot of different patterns from them. The finished product would just be smaller, since they are narrower.

I could see jelly roll race quilts, sew 3 together and cut down to get small 9 patches, and so on.

I use 1 1/2 " strips for half of the log cabin block so it will make a more "wavy" pattern You can use them anywhere you would like and they are great. I like the look of the narrower strips

Most of my log cabin quilts were made with 1 &1/2" strips, the three quilts I am making right now has 1&1/2 inch strips and 1!2" strips, and the last class I gave "dyeing to quilt" used both one and a half and two inch strips for six inch blocks and 12" blocks, so glad that there are no rules with making qui

I use a lot of 1 1/2 inch strips and to me they are not a problem of any kind, just like any other strip.
