I learned to sew curves back in HS home-ec class in 1963. Pins are your best friend for this. Beats the gimmick tools all hollow.

I bought one after struggling with a wedding ring quilt. YouTube had a tutorial and my quilt got finished much, much more quickly. The pieces were accurately cut by laser, so that wasn't a problem. Curvemaster is a tool that can make your work easier. Watch the YouTube before ordering would be my suggestion.

Concave: Cave you go in to. That's how we learned in elementary school. I have the curve master I bought decades ago in Paducah. I used it to make a drunkard's path quilt. I should find it and see if I still remember how to use it.

After I practiced a bit it became quick and easy, probably the easiest block to sew for me. I made 9" blocks for a queen size in a day, cutting in the morning, sewing in the afternoon. I hate pinning curves and stitching slowly. Sometimes gimmicks are worth it. I wore the first one out so when Nancy's Notions had them on sale I bought four more.

You can find a YouTube on it that is clear and easy to follow. Just type YouTube Curvemaster and that should do it. It's not very long. Sure beats pinning to me...which took way more time. Love it...recommended it to my cousin who is a professional quilter when she made a wedding ring quilt for her daughter. She bought it and had the quilt done in a jiffy.

I quilt for the enjoyment of it and I'm never in a hurry. I don't mind the time it takes to pin. And it leaves me more money for fabric when I don't have to spend it on such things.

I tried it but it didn't seem to make much difference for me. Practice, I think, does more for me than the special foot.

I have one and like it - doesn't require pinning, and helps maintain a proper seam allowance. For me, it makes a difference.

I bought one when my (then) 13 yo DD wanted to make a Winding Ways quilt. i thought it would be less frustrating for her. She did better without it. I tried it out, it was OK but I wasn't that impressed. It's still around somewhere .........

I have a curve master, I've attempted to use it once. Just sayin' I wasn't terribly impressed with it. I learned to sew curves when I learned to make clothing, pinning was much easier for me and got better results.
