Having a bad quilt day...
#1
I am trying to finish a baby quilt top so I can get it put together for quilting. I got up this morning with a bad crick in my neck but still wanted to get the quilt finished...all that was left to do was borers..I has 3 borders in different colors..sounds easy?? Right? Well I realized I had cut the strips for the side all wrong..don't know what I did...when I was taking a border off to redo I cut a gap in the first border so had to replace it..Now I am on the last border and it is not long enough..so I am going to had to piece it and I now have to figue out how and where or either buy more fabric to make it long enough...think I am going to give it up for the day or until my neck quits hurting...

Sorry to hear you're having a bad day. When that happens, it's best to step away for awhile. I had a similar problem with a border not that long ago. It was a directional print and I didn't want the seam noticeable. I ended up having to cut a chunk out of the middle of a 1/2 yard piece in order to match it up. It was a pain, but the finished result is great - hardly notice the seam. Take a nice break for yourself and try again later. :)

I feel your pain...sometimes on an off day...one mistake seems to lead to others... I am sorry you had one of those days... Maybe getting out to look for more fabric will put a smile on your face and you will come home having broke the bad luck spell on this quilt  :D

Have you tried sewing all the borders together and then sewing them on the quilt? That makes it so much easier for me. I don't have to wrestle the quilt top but one time through the machine. At least you are sewing, that's a great day no matter what mishaps happen.
I wanted so much to sew all day but I promised to teach a guild member how to crochet this afternoon. And then I promised to be at a reception this evening in honor of another guild member. I'm proud for her but I don't like to get dressed up at all anymore. Give me jeans and tees!

hugs...gently.
Hope, at another time, you are able to find a fix for quilt that you are happy with. In the mean time, a nice warm, rice sock on your neck might help.
(take a discarded sock, fill with rice, not packed, you need to tie the end closed, and you want it to be able to "conform", to your neck, after you heat it in microwave. Experiment how long, maybe starting with 30 seconds...not warm enough, add 30 more and so on...you don't want to burn yourself.) feel better :D

I'm sorry you're having a bad day. I was going to start this subject as well. I was trying to make a block and everything was wrong with it, it was like I couldn't sew. I kept trying and trying and finally gave up and made a block I was familiar with. But that was all I did today, 1 block.
Hope your neck gets better, the rice pack is a good idea.
