I just made an applique quilt and used Heat 'N' Bond for the first time. It made all of the pieces so easy to stitch in place. The trouble is, once it was all appliqued, I realized how stiff it was. Will this stiffness wash out easily?

no i don't think it will wash out. sorry. there are different types of heat n bond. read the label and see what it says. at least it let you stitch through it easily.

It depends on which Heat n Bond it is. There is a no sew kind that pretty much stays stiff from what I have experienced. The other which is sewable, I've not used, but would imagine that it would be softer.

I've used it for the first time too, and wash my wall quilt and it not as stiff as it was, after I wash it.

Even the lightest will have some stiffness, it does not all wash out :D:D:D

I use the heat n bond LITE, it does have a tiny bit of stiffness but I prefer it over the other brands

I prefer other brands because of this stiffness. Heat N Bond Lite is not so Lite!! Feels like cardboard when you're done with it. It can help if you "window" the fusible. Meaning you cut out the center and only leave about a 1/4" window of it around the edge of the applique piece. I prefer Steam a Seam 2 but am still not thrilled with the stiffness. I'm trying Misty Fuse next to see how I like that.

I love Heat 'N' Bond. I use lite and it isn't very stiff. It adds a little body but not much stiffness.

I also use it all the time...Lite not Heavy...Heavy on cotton the glue pleads thru...so ck that it's lite.

It does have a slight stiffness and no matter to me if wallhanging. But I've been cutting out the center before adhering to fabric and only using abt 1/4 -1/2 inch on the outer portion of the applique...No stiffness...

Also use Wonder Under which is less stiff without cutting out ctr.

You can also use fusible interfacing for appliques. I saw it done on tv and it was really cool - and doesn't add the stiffness.
