if the foot has some rough spot where the thread is rubbing, it could cause that.
I've had problems like that, too... quilting for hours and then all of a sudden, nothing is working right.
I use topstitch needles when I have cranky thread. The hole is bigger in those.

Lol! I hope you find this as amusing as me......I wasn't talking about you! Its a Sunbonnet sue quilt! Sorry I didn't pay any attention to names when I made that post.
