Our guild is looking to buy stands for our next quilt show. In the past we have borrowed from other guilds. Does anyone know of a company that makes them. Or maybe a pattern so we can have them made. Thanks!

I like the ones Kings River Quilt Guild, Dinuba, Ca., made. Theyre from PVC pipe of varying sizes. Uprights are 4" in 2 & 4' sections connected with T's so they can be made any height. The cross bars are attached at the T's. There are holes drilled in the uprights every 4" that long S hooks are put into to lay more cross bars across. They're layed out like a rale fence /\/\/\/\ . So they can stand without feet that people tend to trip over. They use wood mallets covered with a soft fabric to assemble them.

As their show has grown, they have made more. I think the initial cost was ~$2000.

When our guild made ours, we purchased the supplies and someone's DH made them for us. Recently I read of a wall quilt which was stolen from a quilt show in Australia, right in the middle of the day! It turns out the quilts were pinned to drapes which were hung from the frames, so it was fairly easy to unpin and run with it. Considering that, I think I'd opt for a method of hanging the quilts by sleeves (sewn onto the back of the quilts) put through the rods---making it impossible to steal a quilt during a show, I'd say.

I believe the last couple of shows I've been to had metal rods suspended by steel wire from the ceiling. Not sure if this is doable in your venue. I would think it would make theft a little more difficult, and no worries about anyone stumbling over supports for stands.

Here in UK many are made by wood workers. They are solid and adaptable. They also come down quickly.
The beam across is specific length and we have to put on a4" sleeve. And with the holes in the main upright and beam can adjust height. Width stays the same.
The bases not sure how they fit someone else would know better.
I have seen them coming down faster than quilts.
The wood is treated in various ways.
I have used the stands used by photographers but they are too light for a major show. One show had used wood across sleeves and been pulled up on rope pulleys. They were hanging at all different heights.

Must improve drawing. Hope it gives you some ideas.
