Help replacing neddle in Brother Nouvelle 1500

I broke my needle and as I was removing it it fell out and now I do not know if the flat side goes to the back or to one of the sides!! If anyone can help me with this I sure would appreciate as I am "dead in the water" right now and am trying to finish my Christmas projects! LOL!!

It seems to be misplaced at the moment! I have searched online but to no avail

Flat side goes toward the screw that holds the needle. The right side.

A great way to tell when you forget.....as I always do... is to put a mirror under ther so you can see the shape of the hole.

I might be wrong (as I often am...) but I think the Nouvelle is the same machine as the PQ1500.
See if this is the correct manual...

I was told a long time ago that the flat side goes away from the way the thread goes through the eye of the needle. That has always been true with any machine I have used. Tell me if that is wrong. Thanks

Your best bet is to get that little mirrow out & you will have it sloved in no time. Just put it under where the needle goes in, you will see where the flat side goes.
