Flapper

I just put a half circle tear in my cutting mat. Is there any way to repair it? It pops back into place, but I think it would need to be sealed---any suggestions, other than replacing it?http://www.quiltingboard.com/images/icons/icon9.png

I can think of only a couple of possible mends. Put duct tape on the bottom to keep it in place and continute to use it. OR Try to run a small bead of crazy glue along the edge of the tear and quickly push the piece back in place and wait for it to dry. I would still reinforce the bottom with duct tape too. If you decide to crazy glue, make sure to cover the surface you are working on with plastic in case it leaks to the bottom and sticks. Maybe someone else will know of a better solution?

Oh dear! How on earth did you get a tear in it? Sorry, all I can think is that a dog decided to go at it!

I would be like Tartan and think of crazy glue or duct tape. Though, I'd probably buy a new one, and cut size this one to a couple of smaller ones.

I used duct tape to hold a corner on mine for years. It was a large (24x36) one so buying another just because the corner was broken was not an option.

Actually if you run a small bead of silicone caulking in the tear, reinforce with duct tape until caulking is dry, and then remove tape, your board will be almost like new...ask me how I know!

I was cleaning up, the mat was behind me on the floor, lost my balance and my wrist landed in the middle of the mat -- it is old but large (24x36) and I really did not want to replace it until JoAnn's had 50% off!!! I'm thinking your idea of duct tape will work until I can replace it. Thanks to all for the good tips.
