A friend asked me today about how to make an t-shirt memory quilt. I have never made one. Can anyone give her some advice on what to do? Do you use Pellon fuseable shirt weight?

A friend asked me today about how to make an t-shirt memory quilt. I have never made one. Can anyone give her some advice on what to do? Do you use Pellon fuseable shirt weight?

The key is to support the T-shirt with interfacing because the t-shirt material is too flexible and will distort without backing. Most of the ones I have seen were sashed.

I've made them before with fusible interfacing on the backs. I like to iron the t-shirt, stabilize it, then cut it to the size I've already decided on. (if your making a 15 inch block stabilizer should be cut larger) I don't use sashing on these either. I generally back them with fleece as well in a favorite color or something that goes with the majority of the t-shirts.
