In 2010 my husband gave me my first sewing machine which is a Brothers SE400. I fell in love with quilting so the next year I moved to the Brothers Laura Ashley and there was a promotion and I got a free Serger (which I still have to figure out how to use). Last week I purchased a Baby Locks Crown Jewel long arm. So I have 4 and that is all I can handle...for now.

Way too many but I have 3 featherweights, a handcrank, 2 sergers, an industrial Singer, a 301, 401, a janome, but I quilt with my Juki with a thread cutter!

Too many for some folks but I would like one more to add to my collection of eight. I would like a Singer 301 .
I have a Janome 6500P, a 1894 treadle, two centennial featherweights, a 99K, a 185K, a pristine 1950 Japanese clone, a Jeans Brother, and a Singer serger. All are in great condition and all work like a charm.......

I have 4 -- A bernina 640 E that I mainly use at home; and old kenmore in a cabinet; a singer scholastica that I used to take to classes, and now a small Janome that I can lift with 2 fingers that I take to class (Have a bad back and can't lift right now so my DH got it for me -- it only cost $49 on sale at Hancocks)

I have 2 Viking machines, my newest is the Sapphire which I use for everything, the other is Viking 500 which I gave to my daughter and it still is at my house, I inherited my mother's Bernina (all metal I think-it weighs a ton!), then I bought the Brother SE 400 for embroidery work. I didn't want an expensive machine to try out embroidery work and this works fine for me. I also have Bernina serger and my mother's White serger.

By some standards, too many! Everyone tells me, " What do you want with another sewing machine"? I only have :
1. Viking Designer 1, sewing & embroidery
2. 1960ish Kenmore in a cabinet: a pain with tension issues which I think is the operator not the machine...
3. Singer 99
4. Green Singer: not sure of it's number and is heavy
5. Singer Spartan: a workhorse
6. May 3, 1951 Featherweight: works beautifully
7. Old serger from 1970s: still works fine but doesn't have a cover stitch
8. Elna 704 DEX Serger with cover stitch: works beautifully
9. Sew Handy toy singer: works
10. Singer 127 Sphinx decals, treadle; works
11. Singer 127 Sphinx decals, can be a treadle or electric which works. Want to convert to hand crank.

Gave a small Janome to my nephew. Donated 2 clones to the Kidney Foundation Community Thrift store.

I love the old Singers but don't know why as my Mom didn't sew much but had some kind of clone for a while that she used when she did sew.

Did learn to sew on a treadle in Home Ec class. Maybe that's why I love them. All of my machines work and I keep them clean and oiled regularly. Sew on them also but most use the Viking as it is like driving a RR instead of a Volkswagen. LOL!!!

I have a olderPfaff 1222, a Pfaff 7570, Pfaff creative sensation, a Janome 8000, an olderWhite, 12 stitch Kenmore, a Baby Lock Elliago and a BabyLock Elleganti. Also aJukie tl98e on a frame. Believe it or not I use all of them depending on what I am doing.

I have the following machines - Viking 754 I purchased in 1983 after I had made a wedding dress for someone. At the time I was using a Elna that my grandmother gave me when I got married. It spent more time in the shop then on my kitchen table. In 1986, I bought a Husky White 545 Serger, after making 5 bridesmaids and 2 flower girl dresses with loads of ruffles (this was my 3rd of 5 weddings that summer). In 2001 I bought a 7570 Pfaff embroidery machine. This was about the same time I was getting into quilting more. 2009, I bought 2 more of the Husky White sergers off ebay, one for me and one for my daughter. This one is my back up incase the other goes down while sewing for others. Sometime in the mid 90's, I purschased a 1914 Singer Treadle machine with $50 from birthday morning I had been saving for that special thing (in excellent condition). It was the first time I had been given $50 for my birthday. Just last early fall I purchased a Pfaff Creative Vision Embroidery machine.
I seldom use my first Viking now, but it is always there for a back up or to teach kids about sewing and quilting. It is not worth trying to trade off, I would never get the amount money it is worth now. So I save it for my DGD's (4), that I can't wait to teach. Each of their mothers know how, if they had the time, 2 of the 3 I bought there machines. My DS can also sew...........His sister's learned and so did he. He was the only boy, in school that would get called out of class to go help the Home Ec teacher fix the serger, if it wasn't working right.
So I have 6 machines and I been sewing since I was 7yrs. Mom taught me, while in 4H. Go green!!

I think my Brother is the same, but without the "i" on the end. Why don't you quilt with it? Outside of lint build up, I've had nary a problem with it. And a lot of my recent work has been with rag quilts-----------so it sews pretty well on 4 or 6 layers Doesn't like really heavy seams like denim but great for straight or zigzag sewing.
