How much time does it take YOU to make one? Be sure to include the time it takes for preparing the yardage (pressing/starching), cutting, sewing, then pressing the finished block. I would charge a minimum of $10/hour on top of the price of the materials. The quirk is that you probably wouldn't make one at a time, so you would chain sew, make multiple HSTs etc. so it will probably take less time per star, the more stars you make.
Then you would also have extra time invested if you added sashing and border(s) quilting, binding...

It's really hard to answer that question. Some of it depends on why you are thinking about making the quilt - because you want/need the money, want to help someone out, just enjoy the process... I know it can be really hard to estimate how much time it will take you, but PaperPrincess is right that it's a good way to charge if you're doing quilting as a business.

It is impossible to charge the 'real' price for our craft. People are unwilling to pay an hourly wage for the time it takes to produce our beautiful products. You need to decide what price you are willing to accept for the FINISHED product, not what you think you should earn while making it.

Deal! ... Just kidding. Just reminded me of an article I read about how many Etsy buyers are also sellers so if we all stopped undervaluing our work, we could afford to pay more. But I digress... I agree with others who said you need to calculate average time to make a block start to finish & then multiply by $10 and add cost of materials/expenses. If your market won't support that, find out what they are willing to pay for. Quilt Artists don't live off of love & sunshine. We need to make a living wage.

I wouldn't charge per block because you will piece all of the components at the same time. This is a quick block to make if your are an experience quilter. If just piecing, it would probably take 2 hours or less including attaching the two borders. Haven't time myself in over a decade.

Ha! This is why I don't sew -- anything! -- for money, although I have and will make almost anything for someone as a favor. I made a dish draining pad just last night, showed it to my grandson, who said, "You know, Mema, you should get a website or something to sell this stuff you make." No, no and no! It would then be work and I'm retired. I understand those who do sew for money and more power to them, but I would hate it.
Long answer to say I have no idea what one would charge per block. Sorry!
