ok-I do have the Brother, but this is moving me up into the neighborhood (ok the suburbs) of you quilters!! It is a Janome 625-I said I was just sneaking up on you--but it will be a world of change for me. And it comes with REAL people that will answer questions as I have them. Or show me what I am doing wrong. Just to start off on the right foot I even paid a ton of money for 2 spools of 100% cotton thread instead of the Coates & Clark I would have used. Just had to let someone know that would appreciate my excitement.

congratulations on your new machine. I hope you have a great time getting to know it and learning all the different things it does. So we should be seeing some awesome work from you as you learn to use it!!!

Congratulations! I know what you mean about the cost of some of the thread. It's outrageous.

So happy for you...I hope you get lots of hours of sewing pleasure! You will also get hooked on the quality thread! Look for sales and you will find that you can keep the costs under control. Probably not as low as CC, but the difference alone in your machine's endurance will make it worthwhile for you!
