Cute pattern. I agree that there needs to be more distinction between the grass and sky, as it appears to me that the darling sheep is rather floating. I was thinking like Tartan--green thread in the grass area, applique lady bugs on later.

I agree there is not enough contrast in the quilt background. The only visual is the sheep and from a distance it will look random on a light background. I would add ladybugs and somehow define the division of ground from sky if possible.

I would use an odd number of ladybugs in softer pastel red with maybe soft gray dots instead of black. The sharp contrast of bright red and dark black on a neutral background will stand out and your quilting will over-run her quilt design. Just my opinion.

Butterflies appliqued might work too to give some definition. I think I would quilt it first as other have suggested using green thread on the grass and blue on the sky and then fiddle with some ideas. You want to keep the sheep the focal point.

No ladybugs...to sharp a contrast....apparently this lady likes soft colors......have you contacted her about this situation.....maybe you can trade out the palest of greens for one of more depth.....or suggest the soft flowers or butterflies ..........jmho
