I'm such an idiot! (Had a huge "Uh Oh" moment tonight)

I've been working on template 2 out of 8 for my stained glass quilting series. Its an symetrical design so I drew half the image and was going to fold it in half and trace what I had already drawn on the blank side.
After putting in a good three hours working on the linework I finally get the left side of the image done. And I haven't had the best day so I was all excited about getting this done. So I fold it in half. I notice the paper got a little wrinkly so I decided to get out the iron and try to iron them out on a low heat setting.
That's where I made my mistake. The paper I'm drawing my templates onto is butcher's paper, which is really just freezer paper. Anyone who has used it for applique can maybe see where this is going.......the shiny side melted and because the paper was folded in half with the paper side out the template basically stuck to itself. Of course stupid me didn't remember the properties of the paper and I only realized my mistake when I found my fold was a bit askew and found it hard to get apart.
I spent fifteen minutes trying to carefully pry the paper apart. Got a few rips and tears and wrinkled the paper even further. I'm going to have to get out some new paper and trace off the banged up original. At least I didn't bang it up enough that I'd have to start from scratch again. Still I feel so stupid! Why must I learn lessons by doing dumb things? Keep doing enough of them I'll never get this quilting project done. lol. :XD:

Once I was in too much of a hurry to read ALL the instructions. I used my light box to reverse the designs so I could trace it onto an adhesive paper. But the fruit of my my labor was to see that little line that said "For your convenience, the pattern has already been reversed."!
Just think, I could have had the same quilt with a left & right version! LOL

A lesson, right!? Best to look at it that way -- but honestly I would have been pulling hiar from my head. Bless your heart!
