O.K. This is new to me. Would someone explain this to me? Why the foil?

I don't think it would work either. The cardholders that protect are not that expensive to purchase.

The strip on your credit card contains all kinds of information that can be stolen. It's been referred to as electronic pickpocketing. If you can just tap your credit card on a machine and it draws the information from the chip in the card, apparently the information can be taken from your card through your purse. Not sure how.........but they make special sleeves, or cases to keep your cards in, so I was going to make a pretty one and wondered if the insulbrite would work. I'm going to take the suggestion to go to the store and put my credit card on the machine using the insulbrite between the card and the reader and see what happens.
Here's some more info

I saw the safety sleeves on Amazon for less than $10 for a set of 8.

I saw on the net that it would take 2 layers of the hd. foil. and the whole wallet would be protected. I wouldn't do this because the foil would tear and not protect it . just get the ones they sell ,and know for sure. DottieBug

I would like to know for sure as I want to make some Christmas gifts.

Share a link when someone finds out, please.

I'm thinking that too. On this one, I would want to be comfortable out and about with the credit card being protected. From what, the safety sleeves are not expensive.

Actually, I am kind of surprised the banks don't include these with the cards. Go figure?

I made a sleeve out of HD aluminum foil. Just fits my credit card which I keep inside my wallet. I made it a long time ago and hasn't torn. I just folded several layers together and then folded it around my card. No sewing.
