Default Insulbrite used for quilted potholders

I made some potholders and used a product called insulbright (I used one layer) as the batting between my quilt squares. They turned out real cute, but they are NOT very effective against real hot pans that come out of the oven. Should I have doubled the layers of insulbright? Anyone have any words of advise?
Thanks!

I usually use warm & natural, insulbright, and sometimes a second layer of w&n inside of my hotpads - depending upon the size or bulkiness.

I always use cotton batting along with Insul-Bright.

I also use cotton batting with Insulbrite in the middle. Very effective for keeping the heat away from hands.

I usually use a layer of Insul-Brite, a layer of cotton batting and a 2nd layer of Insul-Brite for hot pads and only 2 layers of Insul-Brite for pot holders and they are very effective. No issue with taking hot pans out of the oven.

Your potholders are very cute. I also always use a layer of cotton batting in with the insul brite. It has always worked good for me

Cute pot holders! I sandwich my insulbrite between 2 layers of batt and they do a pretty good job. Would I use them to remove things from the oven, nope. I have big black BBQ gloves for that.

I would also suggest not to quilt them so heavily. When you quilt, the thread compacts the batting and heat can sneak thru the holes from the needle.

Getting ready to work on some oven mitts for DH. He has large hands and some of the BBQ mitts aren't big enough for him.
