Is anyone aware of another way to insure quilts besides adding them to your homeowners insurance? Thank you.

An insurance agent I am not, but if you are talking about antique quilts can't you insure them like you would insure any other antique? I assume you would have to have it apraised, and then talk to the insurance co. about it from there.

Bad thing is Insurance Companies can not insure sentimental value.

We just talked about this the other night at our quilter's guild. It must be appraised by a certified quilt appraiser, you get a certificate and take to your insurer.

my insurance agent told me to make sure i had a written appraisal for my quilt then it will be covered, but if you just claim a quilt after a loss with no appraisal they will only allow what ever the policy limits are for bedding, figuring you could go to JC PENNY"S and replace it...most only allow up to $50 so, if you have a nice (expensive) quilt you need that appraisal! if you have a number of them you can take in your appraisals and insure them separatly but most homeowner/renter content policies are adaquate coverage as long as you have the documentation to prove your claim
