Default Laundry issues with a rag quilt???

I'm just finishing a rag quilt using denim, shirt fabric, and flannel squares on the back. I have 1 inch seam allowances and I'm snipping the seam allowances perpendicularly (is that a word?) to the seam. I envision a huge amount of raveling. Am I going to have trouble with threads clogging the drain of my washing machine? Have any of you experienced this?

I didn't have any problem with the washer but did clean the dryer filter a few times while drying mine. But we're not on a septic system, I'd probably take it to a laundromat if we were.

I always take rag quilts and very large quilts to the coin-op laundry in town. No need to take a chance.

I do mine in my own top loading washer. But I stop the washer and run a colander through the water several times during the wash cycle. It is amazing how much I pull out of the machine.

Then I have to empty the dryer lint trap several times too.

I take my rag quilts to the laundromat to wash and dry because there is so much lint the first time it is laundered.

When I finish clipping I take mine outside & shake, shake, shake it. Then into the washer. I take it out again and shake it good before the dryer, then empty the lint trap 3 or 4 times before its dry. No clog problems & I've made probably 50 raggy quilts

Saw a video, take a scrubby brush and spray wet the edges and 'scrub' them with the brush. You can get a bunch from doing that, but I would take to washateria anyway. Couldn't believe how much lint I got from mine!

I don't wash rag quilts in our washer or put them into our dryer. They go to the laundromat. I don't want the mess.

My friend washed a rag quilt in her home and had a large plumber's bill to pay for that mistake. So we always would take our newly cut rag quilts to the coin-op laundry. Just NOT worth the risk of paying for a plumber to come out and unclog your drain.
