Hello everyone...trying to find a cute and easy pattern for a purse that I can make for my granddaughter..have been searching and can't really find anything..she is only three but want something just maybe to carry a few items in... thanks for any ideals luann

I don't have any sources for you, but it sounds so adorable. Make one large enough to carry her favorite friend in.

Some of my favorite little girl bags are made from jeans. I go to the thrift shop and find little girl's jeans that have pretty embroidered back pockets. Cut the legs off just below the crotch (or low enough to give you room for a seam below the back pockets). Open up the crotch seam. I pin the waistband together to be sure I keep them even, then cut off the bottom so it is even (roughly-LOL). Sew a seam on the bottom to make a bag. I cut the flat-felled seams from the legs to use for straps. Sometimes I take out one of the seams on a back belt loop, put a pony tail elastic under the loop and stitch then stitch the loop back in place. Stretch the elastic and fasten on the button above the zipper.
Sorry for the long dissertation on making a jeans bag. I looked for a picture but couldn't find one.

I just made a basic tote for my GD. added a short strap that she couldn't get hung up on. i put bangle bracelets, a little picture book in it for her. She has a small doll that will fit in it too.

Someone posted one that was made like the triangle thread catcher or posted a link? It is basically 2 large equalateral triangles that you stitch wrong sides together and turn right side out through a opening left while sewing the perimeter. Once you have it turn RSO you press it and fold down the tip of each point to form a small triangle and stitch a casing line across the top of each tirangle for putting cord through (later). You then turn the triangle inside out and stitch up each side to the casing line. Turn right side out and run the cord through the casing and you have a little triangle purse with the three little triangle petals on the outside. I am sure there is a tutorial someplace on the net, maybe someone will remember where?

I believe you are describing the Petal Purse....unfortunately, I don't remember who it's by.

That's a nice purse but the one I was trying to describe is the one made like riversong's, my "sunday" pincushion design. Where the triangles were folded over to form a casing for a drawstring to make it into a little bag.
