I just had to fill you in on the patriotic quilt I was working on today. I posted pictures in the "pic" section, so shoot over to that after reading this blog.

Most of my cutting were done yesterday and I spent hours on it. As quilters we all know that! Usually in between my quilting, my grandchildren have to eat, pee, need a boo boo kissed, eat again, etc. They also love seeing what I am working on. My set up is usually in the dining room and kitchen with the ironing board and iron blocking their path so they don't run into it. The iron makes the area hot so I usually keep a fan on the counter but it was in my office so I set up the floor fan but didn't get a chance to turn it on tonight. Can you picture this........I get help with the fan! Yes, everyone, she turned it on and ALL MY CUTTINGS, SCRAPS, AND SKETCHES BLEW ALL OVER THE DINING ROOM FLOOR.! !@!@!@ Not good!!!!! I think my blood pressure skyrocketed and I let out a curdling scream and I know I scared her. As of this post I am laughing, but it wasn't funny then. I am still laughing.

Gee, I am wondering has this ever happened to anyone else?

My son turned the rotating fan on (being helpful, it was hot upstairs) and blew the entire quilt off from my design wall. I'd spent hours piecing bands of circles together making sure I had colors just where I wanted them. Yes.....I think I understand your frustration. I might laugh about it someday, but still to soon now :)

Shoot -- we just went camping a week or so ago. I thought I was soooo smart. I cut out 1 1/2" squares to hand sew together for a potential quilt. I had 10000s of those little buggers. I got all set up in the shade of the awning, got everything set out and hadn't pieced one complete block when the WIND started blowing. I had probably 20 pieces on my lap when they blew all over....and the bag of pieces blew and the rest fell on the ground and flew all over. You're right...it's funny NOW!!!! LOL

You ask if this has happened to any of us.... My answer is...... Do we quilt?

How about the cat that helps by jumping into the middle of the cutting table or ironing board where you have neatly piled your block parts for quick and easy assembly and sliding right off the other side with, of course your neat piles?

.... and the cat, God love him, who thinks your mounted quilt is a hammock just specifically prepared for him to lounge in? And I do mean in, he sags it down, and then I have to restretch the layers.
But I love him dearly anyway.

well ya gotta love the little ones for helping LOL! I had my little grandaughter helping me make jello...she got to pour in the apple chunks and drained fruit cocktail. It was red jello of course.
About 15 minutes later she ran to the fridge to check if it was jelled...I found red splashes for months under the fridge inside the drawers splashed on cupboard parts I never knew existed! This isn't a quilty story but a grandchild helping story...I love her dearly and laugh now!

They look at me and probably say, " There she goes again!" LOL!!

No, I guess I'm just lucky. This has never happened to me. But I have two quilt-adoring cats, and numerous grandchildren who are here quite often. So, I HAVE had a few "incidents."
I think you probably shop at the same LQS that I do. Do you go to Suwanee Valley Quilt Shop? One of the ladies who works there lives in Bell, which she pronounces Beeal. For a long, long time I thought there was a town in FL, that I'd never been to, named Beall. I live in Gainesville so it's a bit of a drive for me.
8-)
